EBEC Challenge Coimbra
A Local Round of EBEC is an event organised by a local BEST group and it is the first phase of the European BEST Engineering Competition (EBEC).
EBEC Coimbra will happen on the 2, 3, 4, 5 and 8 of March 2023 and is characterized by being a 24-hour competition, completely free and open to all FCTUC students.
EBEC Challenge Iberia
A National and Regional Round of EBEC is the event gathering the winning teams of the Local Rounds.
This year, EBEC Iberia will happen on the 5-8th of May 2023 and it is characterised by being a 24h competition, completely free, and open to all the students of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra.
Case Study is a theoretical problem-solving challenge that requires analysing, researching, deliberating, testing and presenting a solution that fits a real-case scenario based on realistic resources within a limited time.
Innovative Design is a practical challenge, where competitors should combine their creativity and knowledge to develop new technological designs or improve upon existing ones. The project must have a technical, social, environmental and economic impact.

All FCTUC students who are attending a bachelor's or master's degree can participate in the event.
A team is composed of 4 members (they can be from different degrees).
Sure! If you decide to apply alone, the organization will join you with other people who have also registered alone or with an incomplete team.
Participation in the event is completely free! You only have to pay a deposit of €5 (€20 per team) which will be returned at the end of the event, if all return conditions are met. To consult the conditions of return of the deposit, you can consult the Regulation.
No prior knowledge is required, you will have the opportunity to have workshops that give you the necessary knowledge!
The organization provides sleeping conditions, you just need to bring your sleeping bag!
No, you can't leave the venue during the 24 hours of the competition, except in justifiable situations. To do so, you have to be authorized by the Main Organizer.
BEST (Board of European Students of Technology) is a non-profit, non-political and non-governmental organisation whose main objective is to increase diversity by developing science and technology students across Europe. BEST Coimbra is the local BEST group of the University of Coimbra, active since 1992 at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra (FCTUC). Throughout the academic year, it holds several events, such as engineering competitions, job fairs and workshops for FCTUC students, as well as BEST Courses, attended by students from all over Europe.
